The practice is committed to complying with the Data Protection Act 1998, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), GDC and other standards.

The practice only keeps relevant information about patients to provide them with safe and appropriate dental care.

Our legal basis for processing data is:

⦁ Processing is necessary for the purposes of preventative or occupational medicine, for assessing the working capacity of the employee, medical diagnosis, the provision of health or social care or treatment or management of health or social care systems and services on the basis of Union or Member State law or a contract with a health professional.
⦁ Hard copy and computerised records are stored, reviewed and updated securely and confidentially. Records are securely destroyed when no longer required. To facilitate patients' health care, the personal information may be disclosed to a dentist, doctor, health care professional, hospital, NHS authorities, HMRC or private dental schemes of which the patient is a member

All confidential information is sent via secure methods. Electronic communications and stored data are secure. All computerised clinical records are backed up and encrypted copies are kept off-site. In line with GDPR - as we have your personal details on our database, we also need to confirm that you are happy for us to continue to contact you via email, SMS or post letters.

Frequently asked questions

In this section we aim to answer some questions which are regularly asked to our staff and provide you with general information about Bishops Park.

Do you offer a guarentee?

Restorations provided by our dentists are guaranteed for 2 years.

These guarantees are conditional:

» Regular visits to the dentists for routine dental examination as recommended (1-2 times a year) and regular visits to the hygienist as prescribed (2-4 times a year).
» Splint wearing as recommended by your dentist e.g. for complex crown and bridge work, or veneers on anterior teeth to help protect from destructive grinding habits
» Wearing of mouth guards for contact sports

The guarantees do not cover the following:

» Damage to any restoration due to external trauma
» Failure to adhere to good home care and hygiene
» Any restoration that was provided against the specific advice of the dentist

Is there a charge for missing an appointment?

We will charge for missed appointments or late cancellations. This allows us to run efficiently and keep our fees at a reasonable level for you.

Please be advised that we charge a fee of £1 per minute for the planned duration of the dental appointment due to the late cancellation. Appointments cancelled with the hygienist will be charged at the full appointment cost.

Is there a charge for changing an appointment?

There will be no charge for changing your appointment provided that we are given at least 24 hours notice.

How can I Schedule an appointment?

We understand that you have a busy schedule and recognise the need to provide an efficient service. We will make every effort to see you at your scheduled appointment time.

What is your policy for Accidents and Emergencies?

Our surgery hours should cover most times that you need to see a dentist in an emergency situation. However if you require urgent advice out of hours simply call the main practice number to obtain an emergency telephone number for the dentist on call. Please note that if we do need to open the surgery out of hours a charge will be made.
